Will Richmond super T-10 4-speed work in 69 GTO
I was wondering if a Richmond Super T-10 4-speed with a 1 and 1/8 x 26 spline will work in my 1969 GTO with the original 4-speed driveshaft and is it a direct replacement for the Muncie 4-speed with no cutting of the floor boards and will it bolt up to original bellhousing with no modifications what so ever? Will original Muncie linkage work. What oher 4-speed trannys work with no modifications? Thanks

I did a auto to 4 speed swap in my 68, I now have a super T10. I think the only trouble will be is the linkage.
The problem is the Super T10 is a F body tranny. I made some contacts to some Hurst shifter Pontiac people and was able to put a linkage and shifter combo together. A F Body combo doesn't work because it puts the shifter in the wrong location. What is needed is an A and F body combo. If you want I can find the part #'s for you. Very minor mod is needed to the reverse rod (a slight bend and a minor notch in the aluminum to make clearance). I did the install in about an hour. Let me know if you need help. Not many people have done this but what a great tranny. Spline is correct, length don't know mine needs to be shortened. |
Send me the part no..Are you talking about the spline or the driveshaft needs to be shortened and are you driving it without it being shortened? Also did it bolt up to your crossmember without modifications an did you install GTO console?

on my 68 the shift tower needed to be slightly massaged at the rear. i have a competition plus shifter so it may have been part of the issue.
if you current trans uses the th400 or large output shaft it should work. mike |
Not all the ST10 transmissions used the bigger driveshaft yoke. Maybe later I will dig out a few transmissions and shifters and take pictures, you can compare them,

cballweg, as Ken stated the later S-T10 used the course 26 spline. You may or may not need to shorten drive shaft, I need to going from a auto. My S-T10 came from a Mid 70's TA.
Here are the part #'s you will need #391 6822 (shifter) #373 3163 (install kit) Like I said a very rep-able Pontiac Hurst shifter place gave me these #'s. And yes it bolts right up no problems heres a pic in the car. Any other ?? you have I will try an help. Dominick |
Thank for the part no. and the replies.
