Glowing Headers......

so, i have seen multiple theories, and maybe they are all correct. glowing headers: lean? rich? retarded timing? all of the above?

just curious, mine will glow at a high idle,(1800rpm or higher), with a 12.5 or 13.00 to 1 a/f ratio, 22 degrees initial,(blower motor, no vacuum adv. slow kick in to 30 degrees total by 3300rpm). doesn't seem 'lean', doesn't seem 'retarded', maybe too rich? don't know, just for fun, any guesses????????? always wondered.............

i thought it was from being lean, but she seems to run a little rich, so i wonder.................

Glowing wonders??

Some of GM front wheel drive cars do this as well if left at approx 2000 rpm for about 5 mins, vehicles that have electric fan and use light weight header type steel manifolds. Do u use an electric fan, no air flow past headers could also cause this??
