Dyno Bearing Failure........
hey folks, just wanted to share, and get some comments on this lovely next chapter of my own living hell... http://forums.maxperformanceinc.com/...=509430&page=2
obviously the thrust surface is an issue, although it went through this way on the other motor fine. also, would like comments on the ' thrust face bearing mod' i've heard about, for additional oil. any insight, advice, critisizing, it's all good, the more the merrier. have at it. pics are at the end of the link........ davey |
I use the thrust bearing mod as descibed on P Dudes site.Never had a thrust bearing issue.Also in looking at the pics of your engine I noticed you use the oil holes in the main bearings as is.I always drill mine to match the oil feed from one of the lifter gallerys.I want to say it is the passenger side.I just went out in the garage to find one of my old bearings to be sure which side but I could not find it.But it has always worked for me.No spun bearings and no wasted thrust bearings.I have used the same Caddy rear main seal for about 10 years with the crank being pulled and hand polished and new bearings 3 times and it still works fine.

when i had my engine done we found the brand new eagle crank was bent. Also shop did not like the way the caps were located so redid that as well. Just some other things to look at. Maybe time for a new shop as well. Good luck

I'm wondering is it possible for the Eagle cast crank to have poor metalurgy, and is allowing the crank to flex around when under a hard load, and this in turn beat the bearings out?:confused:
