Need Fellow Enthuiasts' Opinion
 

I have a 1971 Trans Am with its original 455 HO engine and that is in fair shape for its age other than surface rust on the top of the front fenders and in the engine compartment, plus some interior issues like a cracked dashboard. At present I don't have the money to restore the car, but if I were to sell it, I'm worried I'd regret it later. Could I get some thoughts from fellow Trans Am enthusiasts concerning my dilemma?

Save it somewhere out of the weather and wait till you get the money! Show us some pictures.

Buff out the paint, armor-all the interior and drive it as is. Thats exactly what I did with my '73 T/A. When I got it the paint was so faded that the car was orange!

If you're worried now that you'll regret it later, then you definitely will regret it later. Don't sell...

Thanks for all your replies, guys. You've all got me leaning towards keeping the car. As soon as I can post some pictures, I will.

I held on to my 71 TA for 13 years, all while my family kept bothering me to get rid of it. Never had the funds or resources to fix it. I almost did get rid of it a couple of times but I held on to it. I'm glad I held onto it because now it's getting a frame off resto and I'll be sure to do doughnuts on the lawns of those who pestered me.

bought my first 71 in 1980,was told by experts it would not even be worth the cost of rebuilding the motor and painting it.try buying a complete 71 4speed for 2000 now that just needed paint.:D

Keep it ! The way old cars are going at all these millionaire auto auctions it can only go up in value.

If I waited to buy the cars I have until today, I couldn't afford them. If it's not costing you to store it, and you don't HAVE to have the money - keep it.

I'd drive it too - it's better for the car and a whole lot of fun to drive a $25k beater.;)
