Correct Replacement Horn Relay?

2 Attachment(s)
Attached are the electrical drawing for a GTO, Lemans & Tempest from the repair manual.
Also attached is a Horn Relay and Curcuit.
Is the Replacement Correct?

When your asking placement do you mean where if physically goes in the engine bay?

For my 69 it mounts just behind the brake booster on the firewall. Here's a pic of mine.

GTO Noob,
Thanks but no. I need to know if the Horn Relay circuits are the same between the OEM Horn Relay shown and the Replacement Horn Relay also shown.

GTO Noob 06-04-2007 12:45 PM

Well the orientation of the pins is the same as mine for my 69. Looking at the schematic in the service manual the drawings are labled different but the wiring appears to be the same.

Electrically it looks like the schematic is the same; physically i don't know because the OEM relay is not shown.

Worst case is you may need to reterminate your wiring with 1/4" quick-disconnect terminals to connect to the new relay.

George,

I have the original on mine plus I just purchased new wiring harnesses and everything matches from mine to the one posted here so it should be good to go.

Gentlemen,
In the pic of the replacement Horn relay what are the terminals #3 & #4 go to?
Also George could you make out the Horn Relay diagram on the page I attached from the 68 service manual, or do I need to blow it up larger for you? If you could make it out did you say in an earlier post it would work if the connections fit?
All connections fit properly.

Thanks,

replacement relay fits the harness. it is not a universal type.

george kujanski 06-05-2007 12:17 AM

terminal 3 is the battery connection and termianl 4 goes to the buzzer circuit.
Terminal 1 goes to the horns and term 2 goes to the horn switch.

I have a black single pink or purple wire and a brown wire. Both are by themselves. Is #3 terminal or #4 terminal the black single pink wire?

george kujanski 06-05-2007 01:02 AM

Looks like #4 is the blk with pink from your diagram and the replacement.
