455 into a 68 gto motor mount question.

I am installing a 1972 455 in a 1968 gto. The motor was taken from a 1965 gto with the same frame mounts as my 68. The 65 is getting a period correct 389 tri-power. The motor mounts for the 389 are exactly the same as the 455 motor mounts. In previous posts I was told I needed 455 only mounts. I'm confused,:noidea: any help would be appreciated. I need to rent a hoist to install the 455 and would hate to not have the correct motor and frame mounts and have to pay additonal charges waiting for parts to arrive.

Its not the mounts, but the location that's important. If the 455 was in an older car, there are no worries. (The 455 block has bolt holes for the old and new mount locations.)

Even though the later A-body cars that came factory-equipped with 455s used a special wider mount, you don't need them to put in a 455.

Just use the V8 mounts for your car, they will work for any size Pontiac V8.
