OIL FILTER 62 GRAND-PRIX NEW JERSEY
 

Looking for the correct oil filter for a 1962 Pontiac Grand-Prix with 389 4 bbl 303 hp. I can not find the correct oil filter by AC DELCO and would like to keep the car as it came from the factory. I do have the Historical Pontiac Services info with the correct vin number but doesn't give the numer for the oil filter..
I would appreciate any info reguarding this matter.

AC Delco PF24 should do it.

Dont they make reproduction stickers to go on a regular filter? I would think that would be the way to go.

According to my books, the correct filter is AC Delco PF-7. I looked on the net and could not find a source, however, like Hitman suggested, a sticker/decal would be the way to go since there are not any originals out there. I checked Ames, and they do have a decal. It is $4, part# PX309A http://www.amesperf.com

i was thinking p/y had a supply of these at one time. it might pay to ask them.

I suggest getting the Wix Big filter for the 62 and painting it blue like the orignals. Unless they are going to crawl under the car and look with a magnifying glass you can't tell the difference.

Quick Question
 

I thought the original AC PF-7 oil filters had a nut attached to the bottom to the filter housing. Am I missing something? See attached pictures. Bill

The nut were on some , others not.. Buy a Purolator L-30005 take the markings off, ad my decal, and presto, back in the 60's, want a nut, get one off a used wix filter with a nut, add a magnet and you got a repo PF-7 oil filter for around $10 bucks

I went with the AC PF-24 for less then $5.00. I will not spend more then that even though I want to keep my 62 GP original as much as possible.
