Mirror Pictures of '63's

Before my accident last summer I had the optional drivers side front fender remote mirror. As I remember it was actually pretty useless because of its position. I've been thinking about some door mount mirrors but of course am leary of drilling holes. What have you guys done and could you post some pics of your external rear view mirrors?

Thanks

Mike

I considered a door mirror on my 63 Cat and figured I'd go with the same as what you find on a 65 GTO, if any.

Have you looked through the galleries on the 1963Pontiac.com website? There may be some examples there of door mount mirrors. http://www.1963pontiac.com/gallery.htm

Those fender mirrors are useless.
I used vintage square Yankee Ford mirrors. While the square mirror is better, I find its the windshilds tint that makes the mirrors reflection hard to see.
I'm thinking of adding Moon "peep" mirrors to my roof rail.

mirrors 1964 Gp

I have not put my freshly chromed fender mirror on yet. The fender that I used did not have holes drilled in it. My old fender had a mirror.

Since it's a hardtop, I'm having trouble finding a decent "peep" mirror location.

Last weekend I got the left and right side remote mirrors off of a 1962 Buick Invicta. it was 1/2 price day at a local Pick-a-part. These units look like the earlier (1962-1963) Pontiac mirrors, but the remotes were door panel mounted and had an oval base. I can get these chromed locally for a reasonable price. I used some Wenol on one and it shined pretty good.

I don't mean to hi-jack this thread and I would appreciate any rearview mirror info that is here.

I'll try to post some pics of the Buick mirrors that I got.

I believe my 63 Cat came originally with a door mirror. It hasn't been driven since 1972, so I'm pretty sure its original.
