67-68 Firebird rear spoiler
Hello
I am looking for adding a rear spoiler on my '67 Firebird, something with a killer look but different of the originals that came in option on Camaros/Firebirds of this era. Any idea where i could find that ? Thanks |
I think you can buy and install a 69 Trans AM spoiler onto a 68-69 Firebird. I dont know how to do it.....I have seen pictures of 68 FBs with the 69 TA spoiler on them so its possible. The only spoilers Ive seen for sale are the original 67-68 Camaro spoiler or the 69 TA spoiler. I believe Classic industries has both available....I'm sure other parts house do as well.

For God's sake, don't do it! A spoiler will not give your car a "killer look"! It will just make it look like some clueless 16 year old kid got a hold of it! Even though some dealers did install them, spoilers were NOT an option on the 67-68 Firebirds. (Camaro only)
Get yourself a cool Honda Accord to experiment on. Or maybe a trendy tatoo! Or.... you could get a cool tatoo of a Honda with a "killer" spoiler on it! :D Don't destroy another classic musclecar....pleeeze! |

I just finished redoing mine, spoiler came off an "84 TA, built up the legs on it to make it level, can send pics of install if you like........FWIW.

They do make a 69 T/A spoiler that has been modified to fit 67/8 'Birds.

Some places do make a repro 69 spoiler that fits a 67-8 but the 67-8 and 69s are different widths. Dont try and use a 69 on your 67-8 it will stick out. I put a Camaro spolier on my 68 in 1970 so yea I guess it is a teenager thing. I have another decklid so I can always put it back. Trust me if you go above 100MPH youll want one. BTW the list price in 1970 was $17. I got the dealer discount and it was $14. |

Justin, here are a few more pics of spoiler job....I got my spoiler on ebay for $32 delivered, try your salvage yard for one if you are interested in this setup, Kel

Kel you did a great job on the install. How about a 3/4 shot front and rear? I'd like to see the whole car. I saw that spoiler on a 'vert in HPP a while back. That's what got me started thinking about it. Today I would still have to pass as I would look at my car and just think it's too out of place for how I want this car to look. But again your install looks great! And I see your previous deck lid is still available should you want to look stock again.
BTW, I'll be in Corpus next w/e with my girls. :fish: |

I had a spare lid, so i put one on my 1st 68FB.
What Cammer6 said is true. That car went 140 mph plus. The 68FB i have now came with one, so i put the "PONTIAC" letters on it. |

My front end started floating at 140 you could turn it with one finger. My speedo went past the 160 a few times. Looking back on it I wasnt too smart.Ins tock body the car wasnt meant for that. At least I had the best michelin/sears radials on front and BFG radial TAs on back. |
