Has anyone ever used the reuseable Pure Power Life Time oil and fuel filters? I saw these products at Hot August Nights and I was impressed. These puppies were first class in quality and there are sure a lot of websites that agree. Just Google the name for lots more info. Not cheap at $200 but are all machined aluminum and they make a smaller size for Pontiacs with headers.

What I thought was interesting is that you will pick up about 6 more pounds of oil pressure using this filter.

I don't know about on the street. The filter element is almost identical to the System-1, which I used on my blown-alky engines- cylindrical pleated stainless mesh. Yes, this type of filter is very free flowing, and allows very easy inspection, which is important on competition engines. But I wouldn't use the System-1 on a street engine, as it's called a 60 micron filter (if I remember correctly). And PurePower's website isn't very informative about particle size- they say it "... is 90% more efficient at removing particles 30 microns and smaller...". 90% more than what? What's the definition of "efficient"? And wouldn't a filter remove particles of a certain size and larger? It sounds to me like their advertising department "mangled" a specification- most filters are described as "removing 90% of particles xx microns and larger". I believe that paper elements catch particles of just a few microns in size, and that's why I'll stay with paper for street engines. But if the PurePower is truly a 30 micron, maybe it would be okay, since that's only .0012"- like I said, I don't know.

We have been using the filters on both race cars for years with no complaints. Like Pontiac Jack said.....I don't know about using them on a street car.
