Props to Scarebird

Just wanted to throw my $.02 out there concerning Scarebird and his front disc brake conversion on my 66 GTO. One of the main reasons that I decided on his conversion kit/plan was that I wanted to retain the option to switch back and forth between my original 14' wheels and my new 15' Rally II wheels as desired. None of the other kits would do that.

Scarebird's conversion went very well for me, and I just want to reiterate that you can, indeed, run 14' wheels in his conversion.

I did have some issues with Inline Tube and their hard lines, and we also found it necessary to customize (shorten) the vacuum cylinder push rod in the power brake booster in order for the master cylinder to work, but that does not necessarily have anything to do with Scarebirds conversion kit. All in all, I give high marks to Scarebird! Thanks Mark for all the help you offered me over the phone.

For those considering a disc brake conversion, I would happily recommend you contact Scarebird.

Mskrom, does Scarebird have a website, and do you have a link to it if he does? I'm planning on a conversion to front disc's for my 66 GTO yhis winter. Right now I have 14" Cragars on the front and 15s on the rear. What you've done would be the ideal swap for mine.

Thanks.

scarebird is a member here. You'll often find him hanging out in the suspension/brakes forum, or you can PM him. I also have his kit at home, although I have not had time to install it yet.

I can vouch that he's very prompt about returning emails at just about any time of the day or night, and he's a wealth of information.

I had good luck with my adapters from scarebird as well. Fast shipping, took the time to answer my questions BEFORE I bought his adapters, etc.

The adapters I have on my '67 adapt 83-86 corvette rear rotors to the stock drum spindles, and Wilwood 4 piston dynalite calipers. The only thing I had to do to the adapters I bought from Scarebird was to prime and paint them, everything else was right on.

I will use his rear adapters when I get around to the the rear of my car and I would send people to him in good concious.
