Bell Housing Stud
 

I'm getting ready to install my engine/tranny into my 67 Firebird. Its a Th400 going on a 400. I've been to Summit and the guy wasnt sure which studs I needed. I'm looking to use ARP studs I just need to know the length and such. Anyone else stud their bell housing?

no one I know uses studs in this application. to pull the trans apart from the engine in the pits is difficult to do with studs because the trans has to be pulled farther rearward and there is little clearance now.

So if not studs, then what size bolts do I use? The engine that was in there had the wrong bolts and the tranny was pretty much falling off the engine.

measure depth of flange on trans and add 1/2 inch to get the length for threads into block. use hex head flange type bolts with 3/8 coarse thread. do not use regular hex head bolts with any kind of washer in this application.
