Were rear sway bars ever available '71-'76?
 

I have a '71 Bonnie that I'm thinking I'd like to add a rear sway bar to(as well as obtain a slightly beefier front bar), and I'm wondering if there were any available from the factory, or if this is something I'm going to have to figure out with the aftermarket. If they were available from the factory, I would imagine it's not going to be easy to find one, but if anyone out there has one(factory or otherwise), and is interested in letting it go, I'd be interested in purchasing one.

What about the other full size GMs from '71-'76? If they were available, would a rear bar from a Chevy, Buick, Olds or Caddy fit my Poncho? Thanks in advance for any response! :)

yes, 75 grandvilles with the rts suspension could have them, i parted out 3 or 4 of them in the past that had one on the rear end.

i think they are universal.

Yup, 71-76 GM big cars all used the same rear bar. Most commonly found under convertibles & police cars, but could be on anything as an option. Lots of Grandvilles got them.

I put a rear sway bar in my 76 Bonneville that was out of a 75 Chevy Impala. Usually, the lower control arms already have the holes drilled in them to bolt it right up. Just make sure you grab the inserts if you scavenge off of another vehicle. If you look for a Pontiac or Chevy wagon, you will find the 1 1/4 big front sway bar. I'm not positive, but I think the Buick and Oldsmobile's will work also. Hope this helps a little.
