Scott: Thanks for posting. The undercarriage looks just as nice as body. Car manufactured in Southgate Ca. and sold new out of Las Vegas. By next week interior will be complete and I'll get you a few more pics... Bill

Bill- is the firewall smoothed? Also- is that upper radiator hose a '61 hose? I have my alternator in the same spot, and I was thinking I might try a '69 hose to route around the back of the alternator, but I'm not sure if the radiator inlet is in similar spot as our '61 radiator.

one of my favorite things about this color is the interior (although Tom's black interior looks great too).

i just ordered my interior today from Harry Samuel. he's taking in some last orders before he retires at the end of the year. i asked him about a month ago what's going to happen to all his inventory, he wasn't sure at that point.

Scott: Went to NAPA and looked through their hose inventory until I found one that looked right. I actually took 3 home and returned 2. Used a Mr. Gasket Chevy water outlet--modified. Firewall is stock--just lots of sanding. Still getting bugs worked out of March serpentine system--belt stretch. Didn't want to run a hose behind alternator for both esthetic and safety issues--engine torque --alternator rubbing against hose. I used a solid steel mount on the drivers side to keep engine from torquing too much and creaming my fan and shroud. Radiator tank is stock 61 Pontiac --4 core high effiency.

FYI,the easyest way for a alt on a 61 car with a 61 radiator is a 63 alt bracket.It puts it on the pass side so no interference with the hose.JMO,Tom

Tom: The 63 alternator bracket is definately the answer and it is, indeed, a work of art. The only drawback is the length of the belt and if you are going to spin the motor at high RPMS you will have belt troubles. I speak from many unpleasant experiences with my 62 fraying and or throwing belts. I'm now running Dayco belts and they have lasted the longest.

Pitts 64: Thanks. I don't live too far from Norwalk and I may take the car next year to the Tri-power Nationals. Still busy working on it to complete items on my punch list before the snow flies. Its been a love affair since day one... Bill

FYI,all you need is the deep alt pully!NBD,any after market chevy 409 place has them.Makes ALL the diff in the world.I believe Fabcraft has the deep water pump pullys also.I found it out when I had my 63 421 HO 4 speed GP.Ended the thrown belts.Tom

I talked to Harry on Wednesday, I figured I better order a new trunk mat set before he hangs it up. He said he's been swamped ever since the word got out that he's retiring - I actually placed the order a couple weeks ago and was calling to see where it was, but he hadn't had a chance to get it processed yet.
