Darksider reproduction sheet metal

All,

I'm getting closer to getting the ability to reproduce sheet metal. I'm going to attempt the '63 & '64 Catalina/GP trunk pan and floor pan first. This will also include the rear body mount, which I also plan on selling separtately for those who just need to repair that particular section.

My question is, (and this is a survey). What would be the most desireable body panels that you guys/gals need? ('61-'64) - quarters, fender patches, etc. Please let me know so that if I can pull this off, we can have something to work with.

I could use the trunk floor for sure possibly rear patch(behind the rear wheels)

Hitman 10-19-2007 03:39 PM

Why not any 65 stuff?

mj64car 10-19-2007 03:59 PM

Fender or fender patches behind the wheels - front & back

justaguy 10-19-2007 04:01 PM

Definitely the rear mount section.

Hitman,
Doesn't Ames or PY carry '65 sheet metal? If there is a bigger call, for now, for the '65 & '66 stuff. I'll work that issue first.

I'm guessing rear body mounts are a problem with the '65/'66 cars also...... eh? Those are easy, I just need a decent rear mount for the '65/'66's.... any donars?

My vote is for 63 & 64; Bonneville Trunk?

My vote would be for a 63 & 64 trunk pan. Is a Catalina/GP trunk the same as a Bonneville? I know the Bonneville has a longer wheel base, just wondering if they lengthened the trunk?

61-4 Catalina and GP trunk floors and body mounts are in the works and have been for a few months. Just for your information.

Oh man, I'd take both the floor pans and the trunk pans, that's for sure.

I think you could sell a ton of 61/64 trunk floors. If I were tooling up to stamp sheet metal I would consider making full-length, half quarters including at least 6" above the wheel well openings. Usually these cars don't rust out higher than this, even in the salt prone areas.
Go for it, I would be standing in line for a trunk floor for a 62 Catalina!

Guess what. Yep finally picking up the parts car Saturday. What do you need to reproduce the body mount? The body mounts on the parts car are pefect.

No metal for these cars. I think you can buy some panels from JC Whitney but from what i've heard they are not that great. I would think trunk pans, fender patches, quarter patches and floor pans would be a huge hit for 61-66 fullsize cars. I'm glad I kept my car. I am seeing more and more pop up for sale and on the internet. Could they finally be gaining popularity? Patrick, what are you taking off the parts car? Let me know what is left. And guys, if you want, do a google search for 1965 Pontiac Catalina. My car comes up. It was on the corbett auto site for sale. I dont know what I saw in it from those pics cause those were the ones I bought it off of. I guess all the parts that came with it. Sorry to hijack.
