My recent road trip in the GTO.
A few weeks ago a bunch of us on LS1GTO.com participated in what we called Goatrun 2007, a "rally" of sorts to Las Vegas. I know some of you are members on that site, but you may not have signed up to obtain access to that "special" section of the forums. Now that it's all over, I thought I'd share some pics.
Coming from Ferndale, WA (almost Canada, eh) I was the 2nd most distant traveler. There was one guy who drove from Florida. Here is the route I took...almost 2900 miles round trip. http://i23.photobucket.com/albums/b3...oatrun2007.jpg I met with another GTO owner near Portland, and we drove tandem over the mountains to Reno where we hooked up with one more GTO in Reno. The three of us then took the "scenic" route and ended up in Vegas. The whole trip was awesome. I had way too much fun, met a lot of great people and made new friends. Now the whoring of pics will commence. We got pretty-well ****faced, lol. We took I-5 all the way back through Cali (not much to see really), then cut over to the coast in Oregon. There is nothing like driving the GTO cross-country. |

Phenomenal, that Yellow Jacket road sign...FTW!! last I saw that whole deal was canceled, had I secured an 06 as planned I would have paid more attention. Great deal, how many cars total showed up? Was it the race school doing hot laps or you guys got to?
How do I get a shirt or are they for members only?! Might have to make a call to Pete... |

I don't follow NASCAR myself, but as far as I was aware the cars doing hot laps were actual NASCAR drivers. Might have been a racing school though...who knows. And no, we didn't get to take our goats around the track. But one guy drove his car over to the pumps and managed to talk someone into letting him put a few gallons of racing fuel into his GTO. You can probably still get a shirt. There were quite a few left. Shoot a PM to Justice Pete or LS2Greg on the other site. |
Richard Petty Driving Experience were probably the cars.

The Goatrun was indeed a blast! It was awesome meeting you, and I hope to see some of you other guys out there for the 2008 Goatrun. I'm tying up some loose ends with the last one and will be starting on the planning for '08 very soon. :D |
