71 Trans am fender Question

I have a 1971 trans am.
But has a bad driver side fender (has had an accident and was poorly repaired).
As I live in Belgium Europe it is impossible for me to find a 1970 -1973 fender.
So does a 1979 fender fit if i reuse the nose brackets?

You will also need to reuse the top brace that the inner fender mounts to with the upper two bolts. When you compar the two fenders side by side you will see the difference. It is a series of spot welds that you will drill out, maybe 8-10 and just plug weld it back in on the 1979 fender and grind the plug welds smooth. This has been done many times by restorers here in the states to "make" a 70-73 fender. works quite well. good luck..

Bill, he doesn't NEED to do that. He needs to do that if he wants the fender to look correct when the hood is opened, but it is not needed for the fender to fit.

The large part in the picture is the upper brace that goes along the top of the fender. The one in the photo is the early 70-72 style. You do not need to use this part to install a late fender on an early car unless you want it to look correct. The small part in the picture is the brace that mounts to the front of the fender. You must install this when using later fenders so you can mount the front valance.
