Just Painted my Pontiac Kit Car (Truck)
 

I purchased a 1986 4door pontiac parisianne off of Scott Waddel on this site. I have been working many many hours to get it to this stage. the basic kit requires you to remove all of the front sheetmetal and remove the back half of the car & shorten the frame 11" Install the new fiberglass body. These body kits are very well made but the seams need a lot of finishing to make it look right.However the real work was all of the customizing that I did to make it my own.The car came with a 307 olds from the factory with a 2004r. For simplicity & to make it an easier swap I located a 1969 350 olds which was freshend.I may eventually put a 455 poncho in it but I like olds motors as well and this will allow me to keep most of my accesories. I have tried to use as many pontiac parts as possible.I am in the process of wet sanding and buffing the clearcoat.Next I will install the new engine & get it ready to roll
I teach sculpture so I like styling that is polarizing you will either like it or hate it but it will force you to have an opinion.I like it and built it for me.
By the way when installing the kit the weight is reduced to@3200lbs

looks like you did a great job. More pics! I'd like to see a shot from the front corner, interior, engine bay, etc.

I will try I cleaned and painted the enging bay with black urithane,all of my pictures have to be resized they are way to big.The car has a tilt nose so I have it off so I can install the engine.let me see if I can add some more pictures. Mark

Looks sweet! You gotta put a Poncho powerplant in it eventually to match the Pontiac emblem on the hood.

I do ALL the work myself I am a high school teacher (Art) and have 2 years untill retirement.So I want to do this type of work on the side I have a good place to work on cars 50ft from my house.Painting* is easy for me,the real time consuming work was smoothing the body for the paint.I really enjoy the custom sculpting with the fiberglass.The reason I went with the olds was $$$$$ this motor was freshly rebuilt and all the pontiac motors I have need going through plus I wanted it to be as simple as posible with the pulleys A.C. Cruise control wireing......Thank's for the compliments.We still have a drive in in Lancaster which is really cool and I built this can to cruise in and make some new memorios with my wife.Thank's Mark

David, Part one of my plan it had to be a pontiac and,I have always liked trucks , I like to give them my own personal touch I guess it is the artist in me(I am an art teacher),
I also enjoy driving something unique(don't we all) I liked the basic idea of using a GM platfom to build a custom vehicle. Especially since it was a Pontiac. The GM full sized cars from 1980-1990 were very reliable and solid cars.One side benifit is that many examples were produced(Cadillac,Olds,Chevrolet,Buick Olds and,Pontiac)which makes donor vehicles very reasonable.Plus the 4 door examples were typicaly driven by older people who generally took good care of them.
I decided I wanted to build a kit car that used mostly Pontiac Parts this was one of the reason I went in the direction that I did.
My Parisianne came with an olds built 307, the main reason I went with an olds 350, was my origional; plan was to use a 403 out of one of my T/As however after pulling the heads, I found out that it would have to be sleeved due to rusty cylinders($900.00 just in the block) so I found a fresh 1969 350 olds that was built for a very reasonable price.
I have a balls to the wall T/A street/race car(11.7s),as well as another T/A (12.3s).I wanted something that is different and quick but is still as reliable as possible.
The fiberglass construction allows you to change and modify the body to make it a more personal build.Don the designer is also very helpful in the basic build, he will try to answer any questions that you may have.
If you notice I have tried to incorporate as many unique Pontiac details as possible. However I do like Corvettes as well ,and Have a 2000 C-5 Vette- pay attention to the rear treatment . I also like the looks of the viper however Dodge has copied Pontiac in many of there designs (Example The split grill originated in the 1959 Pontiac) Have you ever noticed that the viper grill resembles the grill in the 1971 ventura. Plus I have owned several mopars (1970 440 cuda six pack 4 spd,1973 cuda 340 4spd, 1973 Duster,) I like Mopars also.I like all American Cars.
The color is one of my favorite cloisinne blue GM 1995-95 used on the grand sport corvettes.
When I was a little kid my dad ordered a new 1965 bonneville 421 4spd,when we went to pick it up it was beautiful. Navy blue with a white interior. That has been my favorite color every since. I have a limited budget so I had to do it all myself but I also wanted it to be different but still be a Pontiac at heart.
