OER Dashpad
Does anyone have any information on the OER dashpad? I was looking for fit and finish descriptions. Does it have the orginal grain material? Did it fit as it was supposed to?
Thanks, Jim |
You mean the OER dashpad thats "Coming Soon! Summer 1999!" but we're still waiting?
|
Apparently a batch of 100 were actually shipped.

Someone over on t/a country got one. Didn't give it that great of review iirc
|
I guess that is why original dash pads are going for well over $600 on ebay...ouch.

I looked but it said that forum was "locked up"? |
Sorry I am very computer illiterate. It may have been lost in the last crash or something

for the money they seem like a good alternative for someone that is not wanting to part with 2 to 3 times that much to have their original redone. I called to get on the waiting list about a year ago and they even offered to give me the 15% discount on it so with shipping it was going to be under $400. Compared to $900 at JD plus round trip fedex thats pretty reasonable. I'm not saying it's an apples to apples comparison, JD is still going to be the best foam and fit I am sure, but cosmetically the $400 version look pretty good so far. Still haven't read a review from someone that has installed them regarding the fit so that will be interesting to hear.

Does JD have the correct graining for the earlier 2nd gen birds?
Also, has anyone tried one of those dash caps? I think they are only about $100. How do they look in comparison to the repop dashes? |
Looking at the pictures posted on TAC it appears that OER reproduced the '70-77 radio opening dash. The quality also looks surprising good too! After nearly ten years of tooling they have no excuse to NOT get it right the first time. It should be interesting to hear about the fit once someone reports back after installing one.
Pat, those dash caps are only good for a low budget driver. You can see all the seams around the dash openings and the plastic has the look and feel of vacuum formed plastic(which it is.) Better than a cracked and burnt to crisp dashpad but definitely not as good as the real thing. |

I didn't think we'd ever see this part.... |
Dash cap worked for me...................

I used the $99 dash cap in my 72 clone and agree that it works fine in my daily driver/ track days ride :D .

Sure looks nice, Les. I still need to look into those aftermarket three-point belts - clean.
Say, are you and Sharren gonna be making it to San Antonio for the '08 PSN event next year? Dates are June 7th and 8th. |
2008 plans...................
Thanks, Lloyd.
We can't make the PSNs as we are driving/racing the TA @ Pontiac Heaven in Phoenix in April, driving/racing the GTO @ the Tiger Run in Bend OR in May, attending the Ames Tri-pwr Nats. @ Norwalk in August, and driving the GP to the POCI Western Nationals @ Yosemite in Sep.. Out of gas and money ;) . Les |
Anymore news on the fit and finish on these?
If they are decent and fit even reasonably well, I would expect that OER will sell a ton of them. |
