Disc Brake Brackets
 

I am planning on having some of these laser cut. This is for the Wilwood conversion, anyone interested? JIM

New to the forum. Was trying to do some research as we speak on the front brakes. I guess it's not new news that the finned brake drums are hard to find if you can find 'em, but was thinking about doing a front disc conversion, just not sure what all is involved? I saw some of the items needed on another post, but I like keeping the car original. How much are you asking for the brackets?

scarebird already has some. Do a search. I think they go for a little more than $100.

PS the Wilwood conversion is alot lighter than the other stock type conversion out there. Just depends what you looking to do!

Where can you find a description of a wildwood setup?

I converted to disks on my '67 with scarebird brackets. Here is a quick breakdown and a pic of my conversion if that helps you on your decision.

Scarebird brackets ($115.00).
Remove backing plate, turn axle on stock drum spindle ($75.00)
(10) 1/2" Longer press-in studs ($1.25 ea.)
Wilwood 4 piston Dynalite calipers ($125.00 ea.)
Wilwood pads ($54.00)
Wilwood proportioning valve ($42.00)
C5 vette rear rotors, cross drilled and plated ($89.00)
Earl's ss brake lines ($22.00 ea.)
adapter fittings ($10.00)

I think it is a pretty nice setup for under $800.00 and should be alot better performing than some old cheby S-10 disc conversion.

Are the finned drums ( V8 ) hard to find? I have a set of pull-offs left over from a V8 crossmember exchange, but i dont know what shape they are in off hand.
I went with the Scarebird set-up, that is more of a low-buck street setup.( me )
the Wilwood set-up is more of a light weight race design with aftermarket parts.
I have maybe $400.00 in my set up, but i did all my machine work myself.
It just depends on what you want to do!
