I know where you're at with that... I have a '79 10th, and I'd much rather have a black and gold '77 or '78. I'm debating whether to throw a '77 front end on the car and paint it black, but I hate to do that to a 10th, even if it is only a 403 car.

Guess I'll just look for a t-top body so I can build what I want, then sell the 10th.

Your new one looks pretty good, though. You've gotta drive it for a while before you sell it. :)

I thought about putting the 78 front end on it myself. Is it pretty much a direct fit??

I believe so; when I did the swap I rolled my whole subframe from my '77 under the front end of an '81 body shell. I've read threads on here about swapping front ends, though - I believe all you need is the nose and the bumper support. Up to you which spoilers you use, but I can't remember if the holes are in the same place.

Pull your bumper cover off FIRST (to avoid damaging it)

Unbolt the bumper rebar from the bumper/frame brackets. (rebar is ALSO different between 78 & 79)
Then bolt up your 78 front bumper/cover.

The 78 spoilers look & fit better. (replacement fenders a drilled for BOTH style spoilers.

Looks like a good car. If the body is good and you can find a 77/78 front end - do the conversion. I myself like the 77/78 about the same as 79-81 front ends.

I'd put some snowflakes on it and leave it the way it is. Cool car man. There are plenty of 77 and 78s out there to be had. Nothing wrong with owning 2 lol.....

Well the guy delivered the car last night and all i can say is WOW. there are NO rust issues anywhere and the front nose is actually in good shape. I think im gonna have to keep the ole girl and redo it. The interior is toast but thats easy . Bonneville Joe you are right on the mark with the wheel idea. I am going to try and find a set of the ws6 snowflakes.

Mine or not, that thing definitely needs wheels. Good looking car though. Browns look good on that body style.

I like the 79-81 front ends- Darth Vader. Also more aerodynamic.
