295-50r 15's
I posted this in bodywork a while back and didn't get much. How much chopping will need to be done in order to fit these meats in a 70' lemans? The wheel BS is 3''( ansen sprints). If i could go 295 60r 15s that would be cool too. Has anybody done it?

How wide is the wheel? I can't imagine that any reasonable wide enough wheel will fit with only 3" of backspacing.
I have 18x10.5 wheels with 6.5" backspacing with a 295/45/18. It's a tight fit: http://www.pro-touring.com/~andrewb/gtov2/photo67.jpg So unless you want to put huge fender flares on your Le Mans, you should think about a different wheel. Andrew |
They won't fit because your wheels don't have near enough backspacing.
You need about 5" of backspacing with an 8" wide wheel, if those tires will even fit on an 8" wide wheel. If you have a 10" wheel you'll need to do some measuring. Even with perfect backspacing it will be a tight fit. Please don't cut up the fenders/quarter panels on an old Pontiac just to fit big ass tires. Maybe mini-tub it instead? |

I had them on my Judge with 15 x 8 Rallye 2's. Not sure of BS but they were Stock Wheel Vintiques 15 x 8 that I bought from Summit Racing.

I have 295/50/15's on 15x8 4.5" BS wheels and there is plenty of room on my 68.
