Noise suppression capacitor?
 

Does anyone know where to find the capacitor or resistor that pigtails off the voltage regulator on a '68 GTO? It looks like a condenser and I'm told it is for noise suppression. I can't even find it at NAPA.

They are called radio capacitors.

Found some here. Can't believe parts store doesn't have them.

Your car should have several: regulator, alternator, coil, blower motor, etc.

the points ignition condensor is the same animal. use them and change connector.

That's what I used, a points condenser. My factory harness had a diode between the field connectors on the alt, which not only helps control noise, but in some cases run-on. Anyone know the value of that doide?

One thing that I ended up having to do is ground the amps to the radio chassis. I used RCA cables that had a shield wire to do this, worked like a champ.

are we talking about alternator whine? ive got a amp in my truck and have bad whine on it w/running car; its wired directly to batt (also in trunk)
I thought it had to do with cheap (walmart 15') rca wire from stereo to amp.
