scarebird front disc brakes
 

well ive had enough of trying to stop (trying being the key word) my 63 coupe. i want to convert to front discs, scarebird.com seems to have a nice set-up of adapter plates and the intruction page gives you all the parts list to go by, hoses,rotors ect ect, all from either caddilac or s-10 trucks, i want to know if anyone has used this set-up, if so how does it work and how easy or hard is it installing, any help would be appreciated.

I installed them on my 62 Tempest. I used third-gen Firebird calipers, I used the rotors and hoses that Scarebird recommended, and I used an 80s Ford Fairmont master cylinder. I have been driving it for 3 years, and it stops very well.

I used scarebirds set up, but i havent been on the road yet!
They do hold the car while smoking the rears though! :drive:

Mark has done a great deal of "homework" & I have had his parts on my convertible, working perfectly for 2 & 1/2 years now. I have some photos; if there is any instrest I would be happy to post!

I have the scarebird setup and a Fairmont master cylinder on my SD replica that I just finished. They work great and the parts are readily available at NAPA and it stops very well. I know because I have raced the car.

1963 Lemans Front Disc brake set up
 

I went to NAPA & bought all of the parts brand new off of the list that Mark sent to me. Then I went & found a Master Cyl off of a late 1980s Ford Fairmont. On the next car I may try a vacuum booster but the Ford M.C. works just fine & has 2 outlets that point towards the engine block so I did not have to do any drilling or cutting on my innerfenders.

I make my own brackets and the wilwood big ford rear brakes. Its a bolt on but the brakes are up too $475.00 now. Have them on my 63 that I race and ordered some today for the 61 wagon.
