Vintage Dealer Logos-Salt Lake City
 

My car was sold through Fred A. Carleson Pontiac in Salt Lake City. Apparently, the dealership sold a lot of muscle and Carleson himself (1896-1993) was very well known. I would really like to find a dealer emblem to add to the car. I would likely epoxy a magnetic back and attach just for display.

Does anyone know if there are dealers or collectors of such pieces? Did all cars have them? Were most pot-metal or were many stickers?

Here is a long shot, has anyone ever seen a Fred A. Carleson dealer logo? Anyone familiar with the dealer

I think most of the older dealer nameplates were diecast. On eBay right now there's one from JENNY PONTIAC in Janesville, Wis. That is the dealership that sold my Judge new back in April '69.

I get to visit Pewaukee on a business trip next Tuesday. Anything good happening around there?

I lived in Pewaukee for two years, but that was a long time ago. 1990-91.

How long are you staying? I would be pleased to show you my Judge (which was again supposed to be done in May, and January, and December, and last May, and last December). But, its still in the works.

Where are you visiting in Pewaukee and how long are you staying? Milwaukee's lakefront is pretty remarkable, the Third Ward is an old warehouse district that is really cool, the Calatrava addition to the art museum is spectacular, Miller Park (Arizona is in town for the Brewer game), etc. is all pretty remarkable. A drive north along the lakefront from Milwaukee (into Shorewood, Whitefish Bay, Fox Point) is pretty cool because you can see the old beer baron mansions. That is where Lincoln Memorial turns into Lake Shore Drive.

Pewaukee is fine, but really just a suburb. Downtown Delafield with it colonial Williamsburg style buildings is very nice with a few good places to eat.

All of the places mentioned are within about 25 minutes or less from Pewaukee. I will be attending the Brewer game with some clients. It will be a very tough day...

Again, let me know how long you are in town and what your interests are. Too bad the Harley Davidson Museum in the Menomonee Valley isn't open yet. I understand that is going to be very, very cool.

I can ask my Father if he knew him. He worked for Pontiac for 30 years. I've been in SLC for 30 years and have never heard of the name though.

Pretty interesting and ironic! The 1969 GTO, blue, on eBay right know was delivered to Fred A. Carleson in Salt Lake City. I'd really like to find some dealer memorabilia.

It might be an idea to put an advertisement in a Salt Lake City newspaper for more coverage. Someone may have an old junker sitting in their yard with the logo still on.
