Anything New In 2nd Gen Weatherstripping?

I have to replace the soffseal junk as I can't stand it anymore, lousy fit, hard to close windows etc.

Is there anything NEW & EXCITING in weatherstripping world? I would like to try the OER stuff but have not seen much on it. I guess I will go the "shake down" route and pay for GM stuff. This is crazy, if I have the right P/Ns it came out over $500 on GMPartsdirect.

9868431 $135.81

9858880 $94.22

How about the SteeleRubber stuff? Who makes it, them?

The Steel stuff I got was made by Metro. Their stuff is nice and soft vs the harder Softseal. I couldn't even shut my Camaro's doors with the Soft seal.

I agree, I used the metro on my 71 and I'm pretty happy with the way it fit. Doors and trunk shut nice and easy and no leaks so far anyway.

it's been discussed over at www.transamcountry.com quite a bit, so you could do a search of the subject over there. But the short story is that everybody seems happy with Metro rubber.

I'd go with the GM stuff, expensive but well worth it,I just had it put on the 73 after spending the 300+ for the soft seal crap!
Fits perfect.

It is hard to beat the GM stuff. I have yet though to even find a decent GM in the box new T top gasket that isn't coming apart, hard or too thick.

I had to replace the Softseal junk that had been previously installed on a car that I bought a few years back. I tried OER and had excellent results.
They are a GM approved reproduction.
