77 A/C Compressor Shield

I ran into a nice guy at a cruise yesterday - he was asking me if these shields were standard fair on 77 birds. I know I've seen these before but never paid too much attention to it. Was this a standard component on a/c cars?

Thanks,
Mark

Those shields were/are a GREAT idea, but I don't believe they actually ever were factory installed on 2nd genertation birds.

I think they were a big car Olds/Buick item from 77-82 ish? (maybe Pontiac big car as well)

That's what I thought - big cars. This guy knew the car when it was new and says it had it.

Interesting.

Anybody could add one over the years, even the dealer before the car was sold. Never seen one before on an F-body, and I've seen TATA cars that still had the original plastic on the seats and dash with less than 5 miles on them. My big car doesn't have one, but that doesn't mean anything. Nothing in the factory literature I can find either (one again, still doesn't mean anything ;-) ).
