'68 Idle-Stop Solenoid?

Did all '68 400 YS engines come with an idle-stop solenoid? Mine didn't have one when I bought it, and I don't see any place to mount one.

Here is a picture of the mounting for this solenoid directly to the carburetor. My scanner is flaking out, so I snapped a picture of this from Thomas DeMauro's Original Pontiac GTO - The Restorer's Guide, page 51. Look at the passenger's front of the carb for the AT vacuum port. This is an AT car, but could also be an H.O. (not known from picture). Either way, it is correct for AT cars.

Good luck!http://www.mustangmods.com/ims/u/917/2276/247277.jpg

Hi,
Here is a pic of mine on an WT 68 motor.
It is used to prevent dieseling at shutdown.
They are pricey on E-Bay. You might want to check Ames and Year One.
I've seen pics in my downloads of the PerformanceYears catalog.
Mike

This car is not a RAII car. Just a #16 casting, Std 400.
