Were to find fuel stations with Ultra lOw Sulfer diesel
 

I just bought a 2008 Dodge 2500 HD with the 6.7 Cummins and I love it, however according to the owner's manual it should only be run with Ultra Low Sulfur Diesel (ULSD)fuel (15 ppm Sulfur maximum) to prevent emission systems failures.

This is great however most fuel stations I've stopped by only contain the Low Sulfur fuels (500 ppm Sulfur maximum) and not theULTA -low diesel Does anyone know of a site or a listing of all of the fuel stations that carry the ULSD fuels?

I asked a couple of guys driving the new 2007-up diesels if they knew and they just shrugged and claimed that they weren't worried about it. That's fine for them, but I don't want to be hassling with the dealer on emmission-system warranty issues down the road so I'm looking for any way to find out which stores carry the ULSD.

Any thoughts?

Dan, I've been all over this country and haven't seen a station without it but you're right, the new diesels must use ULSD or the extra sulfur content will destroy the new emission system.


Forgot to add you might want to try to pick up a exit minder from Camping World, or if there isn't one close to you, I'll run over and check to see if the updated books have the ULSD listed on the exits.

I just called the dealership that I bought it from and they didn't have any firm answers either. :attention

They basically suggested that I search the "large" fuel stations on the busy streets and highways around San Antonio.

Sounds like a tedious and impractical solution to say the least.

Anyone else experience the same issue?

most all major truckstops now carry it on the car side ,look for loves , petro, t/a's , and speedways ,pilots, in certain states like Illinois ,thats the only thing your gonna get as thats all the terminals carry even though the pumps aren't labeled ulsd as the refinerys are all changing over .

Place a call to your Dodge zone office let them know about the problem in finding ULSD Make sure you have them note your call for future warranty concerns. Your diesel particulate filter is very costly.

Thats all you can get here in ct, im pretty sure that its federally mandated, like the cafe laws. I am wrong a lot so someone else will have to back me on this.

All diesel pumps should have been dispensing ULSD since the start of 2007, per Federal mandate. It may have taken longer than that for stations to change out the stickers on the pumps, but the fuel you pump is ULSD (if its not, that station will be in serious trouble if inspected).

In fact, I don't even think they (refineries) make the old low sulfur diesel anymore.....just off road diesel and ULSD.

Even store bought biodiesel blends use ULSD.

You should be good to go anywhere you stop.

Yep, it's EVERYWHERE now.
I like the LSd vs the ULSD in my tractor, so I use offroad in that. Everything else in 99% of the retail pumps out there is ULSD now.

That's all they have around here. Although Ive seen it debated, I would add Power Service or some type of lube to older diesels to help older injector pumps deal with less sulphur.

They still make the LSD for farm equipment. It's just called farm grade Diesel. If you live in a VERY rural area, like I do, you might have gas stations that carry the farm diesel and not the ULSD. But anywhere near a highway, will be carrying the ULSD.

Thanks for all of the replies. I've already had to take it to the dealership in for *soot* cleaning after 1K miles :rolleyes: and I posed the ULSD questions again to the service rep. He shrugged his shoulders and stated that that's the least of their worries--most service stations are, to their knowledge, switched to ULSD.
