Rubber Pad - Bumper Jack Part
2 Attachment(s)
Does anyone have an idea where I can get this part? See attached pics.
It's the pad that goes on a 1965-1967 GTO bumper jack to prevent the jack from scratching the bumper. |

Did you ever find this part? I've been looking for one of these for a while now. I saw one in the Ames catalog, it says for 68 and up. Do you know if this would work?

I broke down and ordered it from Ames. I ordered a few other things as well, so $18 didn't seem so bad in the context of the overall bill (psychology is a wonderful thing). I'll post some photos of it and measurements when it comes in.

I just received the part from Ames. The pad is 1 1/4" diameter, 1/4" thick, and the "nub" is 1/2" inch long. It looks like the piece in dlarkins' photo above. $18 is a lot of money for this little piece of rubber, but it looks a heck of a lot better than the piece of tennis ball that was duct taped on to the jack.
The piece fit my jack, which I believe is from a 67, perfectly. Although, given that the Ames description said 68 and up, I'm wondering now if I have the correct jack. It's the silver keystone shaped shaft with square base. |
Glad it worked out, whats the ames part number. Talked with them last week and was told they dont have anything that size. thanks John

RUBBER BUMPER
FAST FORWARD, A COUPLE OF YEARS, AMES HAD SOMETHING WE WANTED AND NEEDED. A JACK BUMPER K130L 1969-72 JACK RUBBER BUMPER, ALSO FIT THE EARLY GTO'S AND BIG CAR JACKS. THEN IT WAS $18, NOW IT'S $7 BUT HAS A HOLE IN THE CENTER OF THE FACE. WAS TOLD THE $18 PART WAS A GM PART AND NO LONGER AVAILABLE,SO THEY OFFER THE $7 ONE. WE ARE AT THE MERCY OF THE SUPPLIERS THEY SAY.BUT IT'S THE SAME DEMENSIONS THOUGH. BIG DEAL! JUST A HEADS UP

I have been searching for these things for my '63 full size. Ames now lists them at $11. Guess I'll add a couple to my next order and see how they fit. I do have my original jack hook (now nicely powder coated). I haven't measured the hole diameter, however. My guess is that if it was correct for '64 FS it will be fine for mine, as well. I'll report back when I know more.
Great thread. This is why these forums are so valuable. Thanks for sharing all those years ago, guys! |
