I have a serious addiction guys...

So not only do I own two '78 T/As now, I have been on ebay for the past week or two buying just about every 1/64 scale black '77-'78 Diecast car I can find lol... So far I have bought a Tyco '77 SE slot car, an Aurora AFX '77 SE slot car and about 3 different various makes of regular diecast toys. I had some of these when I was a kid but some I have never seen. I just figure I'll keep buying different ones as long as I keep finding them. This is a much cheaper hobby at least LOL...

Don't worry, you're not alone!!

WarbirdTA 08-19-2008 05:38 PM

Far from alone. ;)
Don't forget, there are other scales. ;)

I used to buy the Johnny lightning cars, in every color available, even if I had that year already. When the firebird series came out, I went from store to store to get the whole collection. Maybe we need a support group for this?

You're encouraging them George. Those things are like DRUGS!

There are some guys out there that have 30 year collections of them,RIGHT?:D

WarbirdTA 08-20-2008 07:35 PM

Well,
Let's see.......................
I bought my first Trans Am ( a 1974 455) in mid 1976 (my first car, a 1972 Firebird, in early 1976).
Every Birthday and Christmas, everyone would ask me, "What do you want for ....."
I always replyed, "A Trans Am"
So, my collecting stated in late 1976.
See, I never got a 1:1 scale Trans Am from anyone, but me.
But, 1:64, 1:24, and 1:18 scales, I got tons of them.
I always kept my dupes as well.
I've got a pretty good list of dupes together now, but boy, do I have tons to add to it.
I am still unpacking boxes every week, since I moved out here over 4 years ago!
The sad thing is....................I also collect literature, both NOS and used parts too.
Ya, I've got it real bad............................ ;)

George

LOL.........

I woke up this morning and looked and I had won 2 more auctions. I need to go get some nice display cases. I have a ton of various Pontiac diecast but I've been concentrating mostly on 2nd gen T/A stuff. I think was started it was I found a '77 T/A Hotwheels that my mom bought my sister in '77 when they bought their real '77. I inherited it in the early '80s when I was old enough to have those kinds of toys. It's pretty beat up now but we have had if for years. Then all the Smokey and the Bandit cars started coming out again about 6 months ago and I got all of those. Probably the coolest one I have got so far is, Hot Wheels has that series of "G Machines" now. They did a Year One Bandit T/A and it is BADASSS.... LOL....

I've YET to see the Hotwheels Y/O Bandit in person, but in the pics I saw,the wheels were JUST TOO BIG!

I'm NOT a "big wheel" fan on these cars anyways, but the GOLD wheels seemed to DWARF the BLACK T/A. (WAY out of proportion)

My favorite (recent) is the 1/43rd scale BLACK BANDIT Dub City.

They got that one RIGHT!

bonneville Joe 08-22-2008 01:04 AM

I'll take a pic of it in the morning. I've been having problems lately with my camera not uploading to the computer. Apparently Hot Wheels G Machines has a regular white '77 T/A also in 1/64. I've got the Dub City Big Time Muscle gold Y88 car in 1/64. Haven't seen the 1/43.

I forgot to add, I drive my 4spd SE '78 to the Oreilly Auto I use all the time for work. It's black with 16" GTA gold wheels on it. When I got there 2 of the ladies that worked there were like, "THERE HE IS" when I walked in. One said "We got something for ya". When they were unloading their boxes for stock they found the YO G Machine car and said "Hey that's Joe's car" and saved it for me. I flipped when I saw it. LOL..

I think I just about have the Gen2F 1:18s covered-- the Yatming black (w/ correct snowflakes) & TATA '79s, and the ERTL '77 Bandit, Lucerne '70 & Buc Red '73 SD. Wish someone would come up with an Adm blue '74 SD & Brewster green '73... Anyone know if the Turbo Pace Car model is available WITHOUT the SHAKER hood yet? :-)

Also have a pair of those old dealer '71 promo models, 1 black & 1 Castillian bronze...

Finally scored the Y/O Hot Wheels Bandit & I have to say that it looks WAY BETTER in my hand than in the pics I previously saw.

bonneville Joe 09-02-2008 09:51 AM

I think it looks awesome. I saw a white one on Ebay. I need to hit all the oreilly auto parts stores locally to find one. They are the only people around me that sell the G Machine Hot Wheels.
