Pontiac motor in S-10 pick up
I am looking for pictures of an S-10 pick up with a Pontiac motor installed.
Thanks Karguy |
that would be interesting to see too. I would think because of the width it would not fit post them if you find them I would think the head would hit the steering column shaft
|
I saw a very sleeper looking Isuzu PU on Houston Craiglist that had a 400 HO block with Edelbrock heads and Torker II intake ,Electric waterpump , Tall Butler Valve Covers all under a flat hood with smallish 9-10 rear tires..!!! I guess it had a rack and pinion setup? But it looked like it fit great !

well thinking about it more maybe it might work even better or cheaper? the way the exhaust manifolds are compared to a chevy they might tuck better and not hit the steering column? That would be all right I had a couple of those small pick ups over my time with V8's and they sure make the cabin a hot box, but they are light

my old 84 s10 shortbed ,all steel ,factory glass just interior gutted , one race seat and an ironhead/block 406 sbc th350 weighed 2600lbs empty...

Pontiac Dude has a friend with an S10 and a Pontiac motor installed. He said that putting the Pontiac in there was easier than a SBC, and the fit was great.
It's just a lot of weight over and ahead of the front wheels. |
Any pictures??
|
pontiac engine does not weigh much different than an all iron SBC, my 82 swb S-10 ran 12.10 with a mild 350 and weighed 2750lbs, My truck was done very nice and had no issues as far as the cabin heat goes, I can't imagine good 400 in it! would have been wayyy faster

What a great way to use a 326 or 350 that no one ever wants.
A truck that light with a little Pontiac motor should get great gas mileage and still have too much power. |
I was about to do a post on this matter... I've got one '84 short bed, short cab, 2wd S10 laying around... They weight very little and are very cheap! I can assure you on the Pontiac being easier to install because of its exhaust ports facing toward the chassie istead of the fender like SBC.
Anyone have pictures?? I was thinking about putting a LT1 383 into it that I have, but I also own a lot of Pontiac stuff.. So.... Pictures folks.. we need pictures! |

Karguy,
I saw that Isuzu that was for sale here in Houston Area. I can't seem to find the photos right now (think they're on the old computer), but if I dig them up I'll post 'em. Quote:
Serge beat me to it... Not an 801 head and definitely NOT 300hp (but getting there), lighter than a V6 or V8 though which makes up some of the difference. |
Here ya go:
