I'll have to look through my other hard drive to see what i have from my TA

I am digg'in those Recarro's, look so comfy and sporty

After i did my interior, i was thinking perhaps i would like it better without the console

i've also seen a few shots of the interiors with a console in the rear seat as well

I don't have any pics ready, but I have a white 79 with red decals. The interior is a combination of black and red. I think it looks sharp. The steering wheel, column, front kick panels and the back side panels are black. The seats, carpet, roof and dash/console are red

My recently acquired '79. I love the Nocturne Blue with Camel interior.
My white '79 had red interior.

thanks to everyone for posting, those Recarros are nice. Anybody else with interior pics?? Like to see a couple more without a console. Heck, I just like to see more pics of Firebirds either way...

Here's some of mine. It is 81 Daytona Pace Car themed with custom door panels. The rear plastic pieces are faux leather covered and while not shown, the console has since been covered in the faux leather as well.

All I really want to do now is have the dash covered in the faux leather and a Lecarro leather wrapped formula wheel. The only reason I haven't is the shop I use usually takes a couple of months to get my projects done and I don't want to be without a dash that long.

The year one door panels are interesting but I don't know they will do much for me besides better speaker up front.

YPG... the Deluxe cloth seats like Larry's 79 are great, I had them in my 79 Formula. I wouldn't have the vinyl seats... too hot when the sun heats them up and you freeze yer butt off on them in the winter.

I bought a set of cloth Recaros for the 79 and they were comfortable. Even tho the set me back $1200.00 for the pair it was worth it. If you can find a good set out of a Nascar Edition grab them. I wish I still had mine so I could put them in my GTO.

Wow 1980 TA, that looks stunning. I love the faux leather. Two questions: What type of material and how was that attached to the panels? Like to do something like that to the Birdie. Type of build Im doing is called my own build so its a whatever goes (within Pontiac reason) build.

1980 TA 03-24-2009 08:22 PM

The faux leather is called Allante vinyl. For the door panels, we made patterns from the originals using a backer board that was real similar to the original. I don't know what it was called as the upholstery shop had.

For the rear trim, it was cleaned and the vinyl stretched into place. The sail panels were straight forward. The rear arm rests had to be done in two pieces. The bottoms were done first and wrapped over the part where the ash tray used to go. They then came down with a piece from the top folding the bottom edge to make a clean edge. It was capped with a homemade arm rest pad that bolted in from the bottom which hid all the seams and gave more padding to the area. If you will look at the pic of the back, it should make sense.

I got a great deal as I think the front panels, the rear panels, and the sail panels was $250.

The skies the limits on what you can do to the fronts. I was very pleased with the rears as it gives an updated, stock single color look for less than the price repro or good used pieces.

Firebird interior- vinyl dash anybody??

Has anyone ever done the dash in vinyl? All the details on the process would be helpful. Thanks gentlemen. This site is such an awesome resource.
