Installing Radiator
 

I will be taking my 65 gto next week to finally get it cranked. I forgot exactly how I took the front end off. Do you have to install the inner and fenders to support the radiator support? Once I have it running It goes to the body guy. Don't want to put inner/fenders on in order to install radiator if I don't need to.

Thanks ole buddy. A picture is trulely worth a 1000 words.

I use 2 pieces of EMT conduit to brace between the radiator support and the body. Basically just cut to length, smashed the ends in a vise and drill holes that picked up off the fender mounting locations. May not be necessary but it is super cheap and holds everything steady pretty well. The picture is from the day I drove it from my old apartment to our new house, only about 3/4 a mile away.

I wouldn't suggest driving an unsupported radiator as the core support could easily shift causing fan related radiator damage.

Barring that, I think it's just a good idea to have something keeping it steady.

Have to agree with 78 Ghost and have2goski. That radiator may not be that heavy withoutfluid , but fill it up with water and see what it weighs. Wouldn't take a chance, Support it.
