Clutch Operation with Headers
 

I have a 65 GTO and have installed a 455/M20 combo. I've installed Hedman long tube headers which are supposed to be correct for my application, but I cannot get enough travel from my bell crank to operate my clutch. The lower arm of the bell crank (stock 65) hits a header after about an inch of travel. I'd really like to keep my mechanical linkage and my headers. I'm guessing others have encountered this problem. Short of going with a hydraulic throwout bearing (or exhaust manifolds), how have you dealt with it? Is a bell crank with an altered arm position(s) an option? If so, does anybody make/sell an item of this type? Your feedback is appreciated. Thanks. Gene Rittenhouse
