Rally II 15x7 rims
Can I put wide 50's tires on Rally II 15x7 rims??
If so what tire size would you suggest? Thanks in Advance |
I've seen 295-50's radials on 7" rallyIIs. Probably a little wide though, 275's would fit better.
|
people do it all the time, but anything wider than a 235 on a 7 inch wide rim looks silly and isn't recommended by any tire company.

I have 295s on 8" wheels that look decent in my opinion but I know that they would be better on 10" wheels... |

thanks for all the response,
I'm buying tires in a few days. What brand do you guys suggest? that are reasonable if I go with 245/50/15's in the rear what would be best for front going on 68 goat |
firestone firehawk indy 500's are great rubber. i've never heard anything but praise for them. not that expensive, either.

a 245/50/15 tire is going to MUCH shorter that the original tires. I realize that this may be what you searching for, however this might be extreme and you may have ground clearance issues or you might not be satified with the way that size fills out the wheel wells.
You might want to search for some images of the look/stance you're looking to acheive and we'll be happy to offer some additional suggestions. At the very least, I'd check with the tire place mounting them to only "test fit" one on your car and see what you think before all 4 are on there and you're not satisfied, but stuck with them. $.02 |

When I purchased my car it had 235/60x15s all around. I later wanted a little more rubber in the rear and went with the 295/50x15s. These are 15x8x4.5 Rally II repros in the pics and all with the 235s.
She's wearing 285/40x17s rear and 245/45x17s front now on 10" and 8" wheels respectively. |
I used Firestone Firehawk 245x60x15's on my 7's and they look great!!!

BFG's website says 255-60-15s are OK on a 7" rim. They are also 26.8 inches in diameter, which is the same as the G70-14s that your car came with.
for the front, 215-70-15s are 26.9" in diameter, probably as close as you can get to original size. |
Wider
I'm running 255/60/15s front and 275/60/15s rear on my 71 Firebird on 15x7 Rally IIs with no problems fwiw.
