Which way does the V go in V rated radials? Year one 17" Snowflake tech
 

These are 255/50R17 on new Year One 17" snowflakes. The perfect size for these in my opinion. The question is, which way is the thread supposed to be oriented in F1 "V" type patterns. I have always thought it was like this. However, open the centerfold on your latest Summit catalog and check out the rear tires on the 550 Hemi Challenger in the centerfold. The tread is pointing in the opposite direction. What way is correct? I know the idea is to channel water out, but you can make a case for either way depending on how you think about it.

There should be mounting instructions on the sidewall of the tire. Lots of tires nowadays have a one-way-thread only.

X2 Check the sidewall, it will indication "rotation" with a directional arrow.

That's right. I didn't read the fine print. There is a large 11" long graphic that really does not look that much like an arrow, but underneath there is a "rotation" in fine print. My tire in the pic is going the right way. The Hemi Cuda is backwards.

It will only channel water from the center out the way you have it mounted (which you've found is correct). Look at which part of the tread comes in contact with the pavement first the way you have it, and how the tread opens to the outside as the tire rotates over that contact patch. The other way will channel the water to the center of the tire. You should contact Summit and correct those douches (LOL).

Are those Federal 595 Tires?

Yes. They look like steamrollers in person. My picture doesn't show this well, but yours give you a better idea of the size of these.

I recently bought 17x7 4 in bs rims with 215-50-17 and 255-50-17 on 17x9 5 in bs.

Federal 595 tire on knock-off TTII rims.

The Federal tire run FAT .

The 215-50-17 is just as wide as my 235-60-15 Coopers and only slightly shorter, 1/2in?

The 255-50-17 are wider than the 275-60-15 Cooper and 1in shorter.

My old rims are 15x8 with 3 1/2 bs. CenterLines.
