Bendtsen's Transmission Adapter
I purchased a TH350 transmission / Pontiac 389 engine adapter plate from Bob Bendtsen in April 2009 after evaluating several options and reading reviews. In corresponding with him, he guaranteed that his adapter would fit right up with no problems. However, it did not come with written installation instructions and required extensive modification (removal of metal, grinding down of welds, etc.) to fit it to my 1962 Pontiac 389 engine block. Furthermore, the stock starter mounting centerline location was off (too close to crank centerline) by several thousandths which caused the starter pinion to stay engaged for several seconds after cranking, making a high-pitched noise. When I contacted Bob to ask for help in resolving the fitup, he was not at all helpful in helping me work through the problem. He was arrogant, condescending and displayed a loathsome "know-it-all" attitude. He will belittle you, call you “stupid”, and he thinks that his “work” with the US Army makes him an “expert” in engine and transmission problems. As far as I’m concerned, he is an expert only in narcissism. Because of his very poor "customer service", I recommend seeking another supplier for transmission adapters.
