1. Fabulous factory color.
2. Sits up too high. Looks like its 4WD. |
Sweet GTO..Awesome Color...Nice Job on the Ebay Auction...if I had the extra coin, it'd be mine.
|
My opinion...Real nice Car, but....
I think its a little harder to put a price on a modified/unoriginal/incorrect car then it is to put a price on a correct car. If it was all stock, original and correct, 32k would be a good deal. Im not saying your car isnt worth 32k im just saying I think it would be easier to get if it was original and correct. But thats just my opinion :) |

I agree on the color, its beautiful and correct to this car, and pretty rare too. I built it to represent the street machine look of the late 60's and early 70's, when I was a kid on my schwinn Stingray and would drool over these cars built this way, high lift coils, Cragars, ladder bars ect... |
Jim, I was at your place several years ago picking up parts when you were working on this car. Turned out very nice.......good luck with the sale.

JMHO....
Interest is there...money is another story! Beautiful car and rare as you say. Personally...I'd go back to a more stock appearance...but the 421 would stay! That's just me. We are currently trying to sell my son's car. Similar deal...out of necessity, not desire. Good luck. I know how difficult this must be. Take care. Ron

update
I should add I have the PHS paperwork for anyone interested, and IMO its a rare car given its build sheet, heres a few major specs as built from factory when new.....
Plum mist with ivory vinyl roof Parchment interior with buckets floor console AM/FM Stereo and console mounted 8-track, tilt wheel, rally gauges 400 H.O. engine with A/C, Muncie m-20 4 speed and 3.23 posi rally 1 wheels with white striped tires, tinted glass, non power 4wheel drums, power steering Documents list it as $4,465.00 new in 1967 dollars!!! now listed on Ebay |
|
That is a very interesting car with those options,Jim. I saw a car on eBay a few days ago,and it has a Plum Mist color code.It is less bright than yours, and closer to the few PM ones I have seen. How did you derive that color as PM? It is purple, but did you "spruce it up"? nice car !!! Larry Banks

general motors corporation 07C 2405 ST 67-24217 KAN 15034 BODY TR 224-B M-1 PAINT E 2ELGR When I took the car apart for resto the original paint was still intact and perfect on the cowl area behind the fenders, I had it scanned with a paint formula high tech thingy from my paint supplier, providing a perfect match,(I did add a bit more ultrafine flake into it). I painted it in DuPont Chromabase and sprayed 4 coats of clear over the base color, so it does have a huge shine to it. |
I am surprised by the number of cars I have seen advertised, many of them very nice restorations, which sport, cheap, aftermarket steering wheels. Huge turn off to me. My thinking is that if you drop 30K+ on a resto, at least pony up for a nice, original style steering wheel. JMO Nice car though.

I dropped more than 30k into the resto Tell ya what, if you want the car I will install a oem restored wheel for you at no extra cost, lol! Thanks for the compliment though in all seriousness |
I wasn't slamming the car, and my use of the word "cheap" was probably a poor choice of words. My apologies. What I meant was that I seem to see a lot of really nice cars with aftermarket steering wheels, which in my opinion, deter from the look of the car. I hadn't considered the "period correct" point of view. Please forgive my biased opinion.
Best wishes with the sale of your car. |

My wheel is "cheap" compared to a NOS wooden wheel, lol. but my wheel is pretty rare with the white rim, and ive always liked them as a kid. No need to ask forgiveness regarding your thoughts, everyone has there own likes and dislikes. |

Looks great Jim. Love the 421 tripower in it with a 4 speed. Color makes me think of Jimi Hendricks, and him singing "Purple Haze". :D
I had a friend years ago, early 70s, with a 62 GP that had a 421 4bbl and automatic and that car ran like the wind. BTW, what size tires are you running on the rear? |
