Damn, that was a tough pole!

There won't be much saved from that one.

I just found out about it. Searching my archives to see whos car that could be. The plates are not familiar to me. Looks like it happened over off Univeristy and Snelling last Saturday.

Another GTO Parts Car, what a shame.

That really hurts to look at in more ways than one!

Quote from email I received from St.Paul fireman on scene...... email was written Sunday 8/23.

"This was a car wreck we had yesterday around 7:00 pm. It was a 1969 GTO in what was probably very good restored condition. I would guess over $50,000.00 GONE!!! He was not wearing a seat belt which probably saved his life. He was concious but not alert on our arrival, had open fractures to his legs and a pretty bad head laceration"

Lucky guy there.

Seatbelts save lives my ass.

I think, in most situations, I'd put my money on the guy wearing a seat belt.

That car looks like new, I hope everyone is ok.

Wow, that was one hard hit and one nice Judge. :(

I think the rear bumper is straight.

I'm living proof that seat belts don't save lives. I survived an end-over-end rollover that most likely would have killed me with a seat belt on. Something to do with the roof of the car being where my head would have been had I been belted in.

Chipped tooth and a broken wrist, but I walked away.

I hate what happened to the car and I hope the guy driving it is ok. A shame to lose his very nice car but it would be an even bigger shame to lose his life.

Wow. I was convinced those were "vintage" photos until you guys starting sharing info.

Tough break (and a tough pole)!

Glad it sounds like the driver will be ok.

Chances are a LAP belt might have killed him. A modern seat belt probably would have helped him. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JcVSQh5MbTo

Very fortunate individual, seat belts or not.

Wrecked GTO

I hope it is no one from here.

Wow. That was a hard hit. I wonder what caused him to hit the pole. I was in a bad rollover years ago that not having the seatbelt on pinned me to the floor under the dash and kept me alive. My friend who was driving was able to slouch down and hold on to the wheel to keep him safe.

Also mentioned in this thread:

That guy is lucky he survived that impact.

Almost the same here, When I got hit in my 76 GP the hood came up and thru the windshield, Had I had my belt on it would have taken my neck off instead I was pinned in the floor and was just beat up a bit, but I do believe belts are better than no belt.
