Yep. They spent a half hour showing off the little blue Messer-shiit last night and blew right over the 71TA. Bummer.

What did the 71 bring?

71 T/A brought $53,900.

The car had chrome valve covers and Dash gauge bezels, I thought that was a 70 T/A only. It also had a Optima Gel battery which I thought distracted from the vintage engine compartment they were trying to represent. The car wasnt bad but(I'd take it), they could have spent a little more time aligning the front panels as the hood was very close to rubbing on one side and had a much larger gap on the other side. It was really raining today and I didnt spend as much time outside today as I did on Tuesday looking at the other cars. It was nice to see all the second gen Pontiac T/A's all bringing good money. It would be nice someday to see one 2nd gen's make it into the inside big dollar tent someday.

Some of the earlier '71s still received the chrome dash bezel rings. My 71 is a 12C VN car had has them. My buddy has January built Norwood car and his had them as well.

And so does my 09B Norwood '71.

I really wanted to see this car,
1) I believe BJ does not want top dollar second gens to outshine Craig Jacksons beloved Mopars,he has a substantial collection of them himself,maybe a self preservation thing?

2) I have yet to see a "cream of the crop" second gen hit the auctions
I'm talking a 1500 mile 73SD 4spd(if it exist's),same low mile HO and RAIV car for example.
When we see one of these do this,the whole collevtor car world will change...........;)

#1. reason there are no ultra low mile trans ams is because while they were fixing theirs we were driving ours

Just looked through their site and noticed they had some videos of cars that had previously crossed the block. Looked through them hopeing they taped the '71 while they were at commercial. No such luck. Out of about 50 videos in the archive, there were only two Pontiacs, a low mile '67 GTO and restored '74 SD. The '74 TA looked really nice, red with red/white combo interior. Looked like a very good restoration but you didn't get to see much of the car. They never even walked around the entire car. They spent half the video shot looking through the restoration book the owner provided and the other half talking about the gas crisis of the era while the cameraman shot the front end of the car.

Bottom line is they just don't get respect. The bidding on the car went into the 60s and finished at $67k. Not bad money at all, but they didn't even comment on it. They did mention the SD and that it was the top engine choice but not much else. Not sure they ever will get the same respect as other muscle cars and frankly not sure I care. Means more cars for me and cheaper prices. :)

Yeah I'm pretty sure if you list your car with BJ and you want it on television it costs much more.

Yet when I drive a 2nd gen out on the street usually people go ape-spit over it...like they've seen a ghost..:)

I don't think BJ has the control over what cars show on TV, Speed Channel does!
