1969 350 HO 4 Door???
 

Do you know if Pontiac made one??? A friend has an original 4 door Lemans and it has a 350 HO motor in it and a Turbo 400 with a 3:55 Nod Posi XH in it! Swears it is all Orig drivetrain?? Anybody ever heard about one being produced? Thanks Tom Raz

Your friends car should have VIN on trans case, drivers side ledge, and decode like the rest.

Thanks Jeff for that info! I told him not to carve this car up yet for the parts he needs for his 69 Gto hardtop. The 4 door itself is in very good condition and runs like a bear! His gto not the same!! I will pass the info on to check out #'s and maybe do a PHS on it.

That one might be worth a few $, more so than average.

Seems like the odd ball ones are getting the attention.

I bet it does run storng....those 350 HOs were no slouch.

Where did he acquire the car? Can you get any pictures to post sometime? That would be a first for many of us to see.

Is it a hardtop or post car? I'd guess they had to have made a few since the 350 HO was available in all the A-bodies. 3.55 was the standard gear for the 350 HO cars.

If it's original, it's a neat car for sure- something to save if in decent condition. Even so, still not real valuable.

A 350 HO in a four door A body, if legit...would certainly bring more...how much is anyones guess?

"Not real valuable" is a matter of opinion as people seek out oddballs when times get boring with same ole same ole.

Trend has been toward factory oddities. A story in this months HPP has some shown.

Look at how popular the old wagons are now, and "survivors" may have run their course.

A 350 HO car would certainly bring more than an average 4 door, but lets be real- even with the current interest in "oddball" cars there is still a much smaller market for them than a more mainstream 2 door. I've bought and sold a few wagons in recent years and they still sell for a fraction of the 2 door equivalent even though they are waaaayyyyyy harder to come by.

Jeff, let me ask you- How much would YOU pay for the car in question? Not hypothetical, but actual right now money?

A L-76 engine can be optioned on any Tempest, Custom S, or LeMans. What I would check on this particular car would be a WV block if it's a stick or a XU for a A/T and the heads should be #48's. If it's a A/T, the trans should be a M40 ( T-400 ) the reason I say T-400 is because I couldn't order the L-76 without it. They do say the rear end should be a 3.23 and on that one I differ on what the books say should be in the rear. I'm a original owner of a 69 350-H-O LeMans and the rear end of my car came with a 2.56. If a 2.56 was optional it should have been on the window sticker/build sheet/order form. It was not.

I thought at one time a PY member had a 1969 Lemans wagon that was a factory 350 HO car.

As said before any Tempest, Custom S or LeMans could be ordered with a L-79 engine, That means LeMans wagon or Custom S wagon too. Sorry there is no Tempest Wagon for 69.

I owned a 1969 4 door lamans with the real 350 Ho engine with #48 heads. It had a turbo 400 and a 355 rear gear. I sold the engine to Dan Jensen a few years ago. hey Dan!

Actually you could order the 350 HO in any Tempest, Custom S or LeMans except for wagons. The likely reason was that you could not get duals on a wagon (gas tank in the way) and 350 HO's had duals as standard equipment.

Turbo 400 was only automatic available (you could only get the T400 on a GTO, 350 HO or 3502bbl with AC) on a 350HO.

Given the low engine production to begin with it is possible that some bodystyles never were built with that engine just because no one ever ordered one even though it was possible to do so.
