Spyware, tracking, malware removal
I guess my endless trolling of porn sights has caught up with me. My computer is running sloooooooooowly. I used to have a free removal tool on my computer but that has disappeared somewhere over the years and upgrades. Does anybody know of and use a free scan/removal software that can download? Why Norton doesn't have that amazes me.......
THANKS!! |
I recomend malwarebytes antimalware. It's free and our company uses it.
I have it on mine and it has worked well http://www.malwarebytes.org/ |
Ad Aware. Been using it for years. Works great.
http://www.lavasoft.com/products/ad_aware_free.php After you run it defrag. Then if the machine is still slow, you may want to find a free registry cleaner. Get at least a couple of those as they dont all catch the same crap. Im sure Bastard will chime in and recommend a couple. |

The last one we had was a "virus alert" that popped up.
It was a mother. Took malwarebytes, c-cleaner, and spyware doctor to get rid of it. |
1. Stop looking at Porn.
2. If you can't stop 1, buy a Mac. :D 3. If you can't or won't stop 1 and won't do 2, go with the Malwarbytes. I had a nasty one on my older(2004) Dell Laptop and even Malwarebytes and Hijackthis wouldn't get rid of them. It wouldn't even let Malewarebyes to open up. Sucked. |
our company recommends Malwarebytes too....I now have it on my home puter also.
|
Had a lawyers secretary get something a few weeks ago and Malwarebytes would not clean it.
Microsoft Essentials did easily, without fuss. |

Well yeah.
|
I use Malwarebytes and Uniblue.
|
Don't forget to run these things in SAFE MODE with NETWORKING enabled. !
I use AVAST, Spysweeper, Adaware, Spybot, Malwarebytes, CC cleaner... One tool does NOT get it all. |
I use Glary Utilities & malwarebytes...
|
all these tools cannot compete with daily installations
your computers runs its best after a fresh install |
Yeah, a fresh Windows 7 will make it like new.

google "hiren's boot disk". you can burn the programs onto a bootable disk and clean your computer when it's NOT connected to the internet. i suggest making the disk from a computer that hasn't been infected, as some malware will interfere with the process. a really good way to avoid getting infections is to run firefox with some of the addons-especially NOSCRIPT. noscript is a blacklist everything program. it tells you what scripts are trying to run on every page, and you can allow only the ones you want. read the tutorial. only firefox has anything like it. most bad stuff uses things like javascript and flashplayer to get into your puter, so if you always know what's running, you are safer. it's not for the lazy though, but it's worth it. also use the adblockerplus, interclue, and the one that deletes lso cookies. prevention is the best medicine where your puter is concerned. NEVER use internet explorer for a browser, as most badware is designed to screw with microsoft stuff. just using a different browser cuts out most of it, but porn sites are really infested. the internet is a minefield, not a playground. NEVER click on a popup or banner ad either. as far as spyware removers, the best ones are free. norton is useless. spybot has most of its cooler features, and is a tiny program, not like the huge space hog norton is. that is just expensive bloatware
