best restored snowflakes who...
 

I would like to buy some 15x7 snowflakes for a 78 showcar.I would like to know from you guys who does the best job in polishing, painting,coating, etc.thanks for the inputs.btw i dont want repros.

I don't believe the 15 x 7's are repop'd.

I had my done there turned out great. Mine where the 15x8 that where done. If you want pics let me know

There are several places that will restore a set for you. I've used wheelsamerica.com many times. Last set I did was $99 a wheel with lifetime warranty. Cuts out the middleman.

This guy usually has some great-looking wheels on ebay. He does a lot of 10th Anniversary T/A and 15x8 snowflakes, but every once in a while I see some 15x7s up for auction.

If you have an air compressor, access to the polishing compounds, some aircraft paint stripper and some time, why not do them yourself? I did my 15X8's on my '79 TA and they came out real nice.

As already mentioned, WWW.78ta.com has some great directions on how to do it. Look under the restoration tips section, the Snowflake section starts out with a factory type restoration done on a lathe, but further down he outlines the polish technique that I did to mine.

do you guys order them clearcoated or not? I figured if the aluminum isnt protected it will tarnish.thanks for the inputs.

I polished & painted mine about 3-4 years ago, no clear-coat applied. Granted the car is stored indoors and it doesn't get driven in the rain very often, but they still look great.

Most wheel restoration shops will clearcoat those wheels (librally)which IS needed to maintain/protect the unpainted surface,but it makes them look way shinier than the original factory finish.
