My letter to Rust-oleum Customer Service

The Rust-oleum Universal spray paint (with the contured cap) is 100% pure garbage.

I was in the middle of a refinishing job on my screen frames, and had a meltdown due to the crappy performance.

Here is my response to Rust-oleum:

The spray design is a total joke. When pressure is applied to the spray trigger, the lever action forces the cap upwards and the spray trigger disengages. The spray trigger came off about six times in the first few minutes of use.

The can also had low pressure as well. The spray pattern was really weak and the coverage was very poor.

I have the can, but I smashed it against the ground a few times, so it is quite damaged. That is how angry I was at the abysmal performance.

I don't want any refund, but I can guarantee you that I will build a spray paint plant and manufacture my own paint before I ever buy another Rust-o-leum product again.

Same thing the other day with a Poulan weed trimmer: started it up, ran for about 2 minutes, steadily decreasing rpm's no matter what choke setting. Wouldn't restart - Poulan has a 800 number, but sorry guys, one shot is what you get. I took it back to Fred Meyers and got a Husky from the local mower shop.

I was suspicious of the Poulan as the muffler had no blacking, showing that it was not test run. 2 minutes testing at the factory would have caught this - now it gets to go back thru the return process or simply tossed; sad.

If you like, I can hand deliver the letter. Their headquarters is not far from where I live. :)

"I'm Mad As Hell And I'm Not Gonna Take It Anymore"

I like it.....

I think they take the really good hate letters and put them on the lunch room wall on The Hall Of Pissed Letter Board.

I particularly like the build your own manufacturing plant part, do you mind if I cop that one in the future?

My worst incident was the guitar amp thrown in the backyard deal (with auditory embellishments)

Aptly named...

as you'll invariably find yourself "poulan and poulan" trying to get their junk started! Ask me how I know.

My best story has to do with a Fisher-Paykel dryer.

It broke every 2 to 3 months, and the repair folks either could'nt get parts of fix it right.

I contacted the VP of Quality, and told him that I would:

1. Go on every TV station in Boston and give their consumer advocate reporter the full story

2. Tell 60,000 people in 60 seconds on my web boards (like this)

3. Post a video on You Tube of me smashing the dryer with a fire ax

They picked up the dryer, and gave me a 100% refund on a 2 year old dryer.

THAT is how you get satisfied as a customer!

I bought a computer monitor for my mother, after about 6 months the display went out. I sent it back to the company but for the life of me I couldn't find the receipt or even remember where I bought the thing. Well they contacted me by email and told me if I couldn't find the receipt they would have to use the original build date, which would make it 2 years old, the warranty was only for one year, I could send them $140 to replace the display or they would send it back to me without repairs. I emailed them back that I couldn't find the receipt, that I had bought the thing on clearance and couldn't even remember where. I told them they cold keep the broken monitor and I would make sure never to buy their crap again and I would tell everyone I know what crap they sold. After a week the monitor came back with a new display, no charge.

They've sold that stuff for years. I remember looking at it for my first house 12 years ago
