Didn't know where would be the best forum to post these, so this one was the most appropriate (Mods, if you can make it a permanent sticky topic, that would be great)...I know we had put some up in the past few years (Keith Seymore and others) but I couldn't find them so I'll start a new thread with a few nice ones I found on HPP's site...Feel free to post some others you may have....Enjoy!

Imagine if they posted the partial VIN of cars in these pics and yours was on there??? You could really say you new the history of your car from its build/assembly...Keith, if you can, please post some of yours again here....Thanx.

For the '87, I got to the plant as it was coming down out of paint into trim; followed the body all the way through trim (on the second floor), then hopped downstairs and followed the engine build, through motor set to body drop, then followed the rest of the way down the final line. It got written up for "low A/C charge" (it was fine but they were being nice; they wanted to hit it again to make sure it had a really good charge) and "back up lights inop". They fixed the back up lights and I bought off on the A/C charge because I didn't want them fooling with it. I drove it off the end of the line myself and over to the shipping building. I told "Lloyd" (the supervisor in the shipping building): "hey, Lloyd, that's my truck". Left the plant at about 1 in the morning and by 5 pm that same day it was sitting in the dealership parking lot. :thumbup: I won't defile this thread by posting pictures here, but you can see it new, as returned to me in March of '09, and as it sits today in my "Intro from an old Assembly Plant Guy" thread linked below. |

I worked on the line at the Framingham GM B-O-P plant in 1972.
The plant looked exactly like the pictures shown. I believe that GM used the same design in all thier plants. Supervisors were required to wear white shirts and ties. All workers had to wear coveralls at every job. The plant was noisy, hot, and somewhat dirty. But, the smell of rubber, metal, and new paint was heavenly.....:D |
Looks like 72 YB tag on the engine the guy is working on, maybe, either way, that's a time slip for a union man.

That might be a Y8 tag. It looks like a SD 455.

man those are cool pictures, had to save the one with the blue 66! just curious, the pics got me wondering, i know a guy who has a 66 tempest in arkansas built in kansas same place my lemans started out, he said buy looking up the numbers he was able to determine that his car would have been built either 1 car ahead/or behind mine. is that possible to find out?
