78+ Lemans and G/A Cowl Hood?
 

I've contacted VFN about making a cowl hood for the Lemans that I recently purchased. They said that they have no plans to make a bolt on hood for these cars. I may need some help twisting their arm. They did send me a measurement sheet to see if a frame that they already make would be the same as the one for these cars. Anyone know of another car with the same hood frame, Malibu, Cutlass...? Is anyone else interested in a fiberglass cowl hood? I think I'd be looking to get the smaller 2" version.

I suspect they feel they won't sell enough of these to make a profit, much less cover their investment.

I'm starting to wonder if they might be right. After seeing all of the people that are modifying these cars, I thought there would be more interest in this. VFN still hasn't given me a firm answer yet as to whether they will make me one or not. I figured if there was some interest from more people here I might have an easier time persuading them. Am I the only one interested in a different hood?

I like em bone stock.

I like to have my cars look stock, outside and interior, but with about 4X the horsepower that these came with. I really would rather not put a Chevy style hood on my car either but I don't think I'm going to be able to find an intake that will fit under the flat hood.

There was a guy on the maliburacing site that was having a cowl hood made for a Lemans. I never did hear the result of it though. I plan on a Shaker for my Lemans. At one time I was considering grafting late 60s GTO or Firebird scoops on mine.

Could'nt you cut the hood and bolt on a TA scoop, so the carb and air cleaner had room??

I would like to see a bolt on hood 1969/1970 GTO style for the lemans-G/A that would be way cool, and it would be very feasible because the hoods are similar in shape

I wonder if he cut the GTO hood scoops out & welded them in, if someone made a hood like that I would buy one for sure ! Ram Air !!!!!!!! Sweeeeeeet !!!!!!!
