65 GTO Single Speed Wiper
 

I am having problems with the wipers. Symptoms -- every time I turn the ignition on the fuse immediately blows. I have installed all new wiring harness and put in a remanufacturered single speed wiper. I tried and unplugged the motor and that time the fuse remain in tack. When I plug in the wiper motor, and without turning it on, I power up the ignition and the fuse will blow again. I don't believe the problem is in the motor, due to it being bench tested prior to installation. Any ideas on where to check or how to check would be appreciated.

After looking further and trying different things I have been able to narrow down the symptoms even more. I have found the problem lies in the bottom screw that grounds the unit to the fire wall. With that screw in, it blows the fuse when the ignition switch is turned on. I have removed that screw and now able to not only plug the motor in without blowing the fuse I can also turn the motor on and off. It does not return to the park position, It will stop where it is when the switch is turned off. It is my understanding that the reason for the bottom screw with the copper ground is that screw grounds the unit and makes the motor rest in the park position when turning off the switch. Any ideas or suggestions to help me further in solving this problem.

Can anyone tell me on a SINGLE SPEED wiper motor for a 1965 GTO, when installed and facing it from the front of the engine compartment, is the top terminal positive or is it the negative terminal.
