How does Canadian Documentation differ???
 

I just sent in the Vin on a 1970 Trans Am to PHS and only received a Canadian Car MA Invoice Customs Form. It shows little information in comparison to the usual PMD invoice document. I'm trying to verify the options on the car. It's an odd car Polar white with a red custom interior AC, power windows, locks. I think there is more documentation to be found. I'll try to add pictures soon. Anyone have copies you can post for comparison??? It's a bit of a let down & mystery?:confused:

Contact George Zapora at GM Canada ([email protected]). He is the contact person to get the full GM of Canada documentation package. You'll be amazed at what it shows.

Just to make sure I understand: so if a car was build here in the US, for Canadian sale and use, then PHS does not have the usual level of documentation?

Not sure on that, but Canada required a ton more of documentation for its cars due to tarriffs and international shipping requirements to and from the US. Also, after a certain point in the 1980s they kept records on everything GM. For example my 1987 IROC Z Camaro built at Norwood had documentation in the Canadian GM records. I bought the package from them (similar to PHS offering) for my IROC.

I have both the PHS and GM documents on my 70 T/A.
There were no problems getting either.
The one thing that the Canadian papers show is which transmission the car came with.
I'll try to scan and post them later.
The Canadian ones also show items that were standard on the T/A like power steering and brakes.

Hang on; so you're saying GM of Canada had documentation on your '87 Camaro, built in Norwood and sold new in the US?

Oh yes. I thought it was common knowledge? From the early1980's onward, GM of Canada archived a bunch of microfiche info. Too bad they didn't do it for the earlier cars.

Thanks for the clarification; I thought their information was specific to either (a) cars built in Canada or (b) cars built in the US but sold in Canada.

I didn't realize they had anything for US built cars sold/used in the US.

Agree... I got the GM Canada docs on my old '70 -- they provide great info.

My PHS documention looks pretty much the same as for an American sold car, but it was missing the name of the dealership it was shipped to in Canada.
