brakes & roots blowers
 

Running an 8/71 blower on a 440 cid engine. Is there a way to run power brakes with this or do I need to switch over to manual brakes? Thanks for any help you can give

Not an expert in any way since I've never had one on a car but the carbs are under vaccum all the time much like the original N/A setup. Unless there are problems with blower surge before the blower I would think it would operate much like an N/A setup. BUT I say, I'm not an expert and am only guessing. Much more experienced guys on the board will chime in I'm sure. I'm more into blow thru turbo stuff and there the whole system is under boost pressure while the turbo is spooled up. It causes problems with power brake systems if you are under boost a lot, such as a road course, and run the brake booster out of vaccum. Mark L

Do you have power steering? Run Hydroboost They operate from the power steering oil pressure.

Thanks for all your imput. I am taking it out of the tubbed 73 firefird & putting it into the 80 & wasn't sure what would happen when it goes into boost. With the cam that is in it I just don't know if it will have enough vacume to support the brakes

Buy an aux. vacuum pump and hook that to your brakes this way you will always have vacuum-----BOB
